Additional available customizations
This section provides an overview of customizations that xMatters can make to your environment. To request any of these customizations, contact your Client Success Manager or create a support ticket on https://support.xmatters.com. (Some of these features and customizations may require additional licensing.)
Each company has a predefined set of allowed devices that users can add to their profile. You can customize the available devices to reflect your organization's needs, for example, you could have multiple phone devices named Home Phone, Work Phone and Mobile Phone, or you could configure Text Pager and Numeric Pager devices if your employees use pagers on the job.
The following types of devices can be configured for your company:
- Voice (Phone)
- Text Phone (SMS)
- Android mobile apps
- Apple mobile apps (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch; may be license dependent)
- Text Pager
- Public address systems (Voice IVR)
An email domain whitelist allows you to restrict the email addresses that can receive xMatters notifications. When an email domain whitelist is configured, users can only add email addresses that are included in the whitelist. You can use this to ensure that xMatters can send notifications to corporate email accounts while blocking the ability for xMatters to send email notifications to personal email accounts.
By adding "xmatters.com" to the email domain whitelist you would ensure that email notifications are only sent to email addresses at the "xmatters.com" domain, such as firstname.lastname@example.org. Users would not be able to create email devices for any other domain, such as email@example.com.
xMatters includes a set of standard roles that control how users can access xMatters functionality and interact with each other. It is possible to customize these roles to add or remove various abilities; however, it is recommended to use the standard roles whenever possible because the feature workflows and product documentation is designed to work best with default roles.
Email notifications include a CSS stylesheet in the email message body so email readers know how to format and display the message. This stylesheet is also used to control the look-and-feel of email notifications in the WYSIWYG email message editor within xMatters.
You can replace the default xMatters stylesheet with one that is customized for your company. Replacing the default stylesheet applies to all communication plans and forms within your company and cannot be configured on a form-by-form basis.
If you choose to replace the default stylesheet, be aware that it may affect how the WYSIWYG email message designer displays messages. In particular, if your style sheet does not include table lines then you could have difficulty working with tables in the WYSIWYG email message editor. You can work around this by using the source code view of the email message editor and working directly with the underlying HTML.
If you would like to customize the styles on a form-by-form basis, you can use CSS within your email message to override the default styles. This enables you to customize each message without changing the stylesheet for your company.
If you use EPIC data synchronization you may want to configure it to send status update notifications when the data synchronization completes. This will let you know if the data synchronization process failed or had other issues so you can take action to correct them.
