Suspend, resume, and terminate alerts

There are many situations where you may want to temporarily pause event processing or manually terminate an event.

Terminate

Terminating an alert stops processing and removes active notifications from the system. If a user responds to a notification from an alert that has been terminated, the response is rejected. Terminated alerts cannot be resumed.

You may duplicate a terminated alert to create a separate alert with the same settings. For more information on duplicating an alert, see Duplicating an Alert.

Suspend

Suspending an alert pauses the alert temporarily. Notifications that have already been created within the system are processed, but no new notifications are generated. Users can still respond to notifications that were sent by alerts that have been suspended.

You may want to suspend an alert while you check for false alarms or give certain users time to respond, or pause an alert while responders are unavailable.

Resume

Resuming an alert restarts processing from the point at which it was initially suspended, but using the current date and time. If a suspended alert is terminated by another application or mechanism (for example, by an integration), resuming the alert does not result in any further activity.

You can suspend, resume or terminate selected alerts, or terminate all alerts that match search criteria from the Alerts report, or suspend, resume, or terminate an individual alert when viewing its detailed alert information.
