Manage your login and password
You can create or change your xMatters web user interface / mobile app and phone login credentials from your user profile.
Signing into xMatters for the first time?
You can create a password for your account by following the Forgot Password workflow on the sign-in page.
If you forget your password and are unable to log into xMatters, you can reset your password by clicking the Forgot password? link on the xMatters sign-in page. This sends password reset instructions to your configured email and text phone devices.
If you don't receive the message to reset your password, you may not have an email or text phone device configured for your account. Contact your xMatters supervisor to reset your password.
By default, your Web/App Login ID is the same as your User ID. You have the option to create a different login ID to sign into the xMatters web interface and mobile app.
- Click your username at the top-right corner of the screen and select Profile.
- On your user profile, click Edit Profile to open a dialog box where you can view and manage your details.
- Next to the User ID field, clear the Use as Web / App Login ID check box. This enables you to create a Web/App Login ID that is different from your User ID to sign into the web user interface and xMatters mobile app.
- In the Login section, enter a Web / App Login ID and click Save.
- Click your username at the top-right corner of the screen and select Profile.
- From the More Actions menu, select Change Web / App Password.
- On the Change Web / App Password dialog box, enter the following information:
Current Password | Type your current password when logging in to xMatters. |
New Password |
Type the new password you want to use (maximum 30 characters).
If your organization has a specific password policy that they want you to follow, your password may be required to contain a specific combination of letters and characters. See Password rules for an explanation of these requirements. |
Confirm Password | Type your new password again. This helps to eliminate any mistakes in the password. |
- If you are a supervisor who would like to force a user to reset their password the next time they log in, select Force Password Reset. You then specify a temporary password for the user in the New Password and Confirm Password fields. For more information, see Control a user's access.
- If you want to sign out of all active web and mobile app sessions and revoke all the authentication tokens associated with your account, select Sign Out Everywhere. This option is useful if you don't want to individually sign out of all your devices in case your old password was compromised.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
You can change the Phone Login ID and PIN that you key in when you phone into xMatters to retrieve your alerts or perform other tasks.

There are two ways to create a phone login:

If your password has expired, you can still log in using your old password, but you will be prompted to create a new password before you can access your information or use any other features. If you forget your password, you can reset your password from the main sign-in page, or your xMatters Administrator can force your password to expire, which will reset it and allow you to create a new one.
Depending on your organization's password policy settings, your account may be 'locked out' if you enter an incorrect password more than a specific number of times determined by your xMatters administrator. When you are locked out, a message appears on the xMatters sign-in page; you will not be able to try again until a certain amount of time has passed, or an administrator has unlocked your account.
